" U.S.A. HOSPITAL DEPARTMENT" BOTTLE - 3/16/2003 11:48:13 PM

Hello,

I have a U.S.A. Hospital Department Bottle in my collection that I have a question about. It is the, aqua/cornflower blue, wide mouth " Pill Bottle" type, 7 1/2" tall and 3" wide at the base. While I know some of the history of the " U.S.A. Hosp.Dept" bottles, I do have a question about this particular one. There are several patterns of embossing, including this oval pattern. There is also a straight line version with " U.S.A." on the top line and " Hosp.Dept" on the bottom line. On this particular bottle I recently noticed that on the backside, the straight line embossing pattern has been " slugged out" . There is enough left that one can read it. Just wondering if anyone has seen another with the " slugged out" embossing

I have seen a bunch of Hospital Dept bottles, but never one like this! By the way, from the looks of the bottles in the background, you have a wonderful collection!

Howdy AndyR,

I just saw your response regarding my Hospital Department Bottle. Thanks... You commented on the " other" bottles in the background. I was a very active " Digger" and trader over 30 years ago. I saved some things but, alas, I think of the things I' ve let go. I still look around for privies, etc., but not as much as I used to. I remember some of those " all night" wells and groups of privies. Don' t know if I could last the night now....but I would surely try if I happend upon a BIG dig. JulesM
