My bro and I dug this insulator on Sunday. It's threaded and is embossed "PATd" on the base of the lip. Anyone know anything about it?

a nice insulator!

Not much is known on the insulator. hemingray introduced the cd 133.4 style in 1876 or so so i asume your insulator is made around then but the maker of the insulator is unknown. The book value on it is 75-100, it's one of the rareish ones. Good find!

Thanks Brian,

If my brother has no objections I think we'll sell it and split.

We dug it out of a privey and it was down in the use layer probably 1880's I have no objections to selling it and splitting the cash  I would rather see it somewhere it would be wanted. When I pulled it out of the muck and wiped it off I had a feeling it was better than average and I know I had never seen one like it. It is a very nice color.

Seeing as the current amount of money i have for spending on insulators is way below book value you should find another buyer really. Just for kicks though, I'll give ya $10!!!

There is no #2 embossed on this insulator. Let's give it a bit of time it hasn't even aclimated to being above ground. You never know it could fall apart in a month or two.
Here's a photo of it before it does.
