Started diggning a brick lined hole today. Make the long story short I am still hitting 1940's junk at 17 feet. I sunk my probe down another 5 feet before I covered the hole with a thick sheet of plywood. This hole is atleast 22 feet deep! I will be back there tomorrow after work at 5pm with my brother to hopefully finish it. My guess is that it's a well and not a privy. I can't bare to dig that much and then just fill it back in without hitting bottom!

You're probably right, Zane. I, too, believe it's a well. Hopefully, the last five feet will produce!

I did find a nice layer change at about 16 feet but still finding the 40's stuff. I'm hoping it sunk into the lower layer. I know this is an early hole because the house they tore down there was from the 1850's. There has to be atleast one keeper.

I met my brother after work today and I jumped in the hole and dug from 17 feet to 25 feet it took 3 hours and started to get dark .There is no sign of a bottom yet but the glass is getting olderWell its at roughly 25 feet and just broke the turn of the century. Found 2 Parkers hair balsams today and a 1 and1/2 ounces ribbed cobalt poison a bunch of crown beers and milks and slickers and a PRR lantern globe and a brass burner and the common meds and jars you always find.Keep tuned till tommorrow.

Logueb the brick stops around 22 feet and turns to stone it is very solidely built but we are being cautious we have not hit bottom yet and are close to 30 feet.
Kastoo there are 6 Whitehouse jugs and 2 Whitehouse jars and everything is cleaning up with no stain.
I am posting some pictures I took with my phone they are a little blurry but you will get the picture.     we found a nother poison and a killer stoneware mug today.

Thanks Cap   We have been finding tons of common bottles and a few good ones here and there and the deeper we go the better its getting. Here is a picture of my brother Zane holding the mug and an Ohio druggist bottle that made his day.

Hey Warren I wanted to thank you for the Hygia Coke you sent my brother It's in my bottle cupboard.

This dig is very interesting even though the bottles haven't been. I've never been 30 feet  down in a hole until today! Wish us luck tomorrow I think we should hit bottom. Next hole is the privy on the same lot. The house that used to be there was a Gothic Revival 1850's style and top of the line in it's time. well I gotta get some sleep 5:30 comes early.
