Here is a question for you. Is this jar from 1903 or 2003? It has embossed on the bottom pat'd February 1003. Found it in the river, half burried.
It does have a SCA tint to it. This is not a trick question.

But more likely the patent date is 1903...

Hey Joel, It was lunch meat spread. They didn't have little plastic how do you get this damn thing open packages. I dug a million of those things in a 1/4 acre dump and finally showed one to my mom. She immediately recognized it.

My wild guess is Feb 10th 1903... if it is turning amethyst then the glass contains manganese and they didnt use that in 2003. If it was 1703 it would have been flint glass or leaded glass.
So,  what's the joke?
