1932 Design Pat Old Mr. Boston Bottle - 11/25/2007 5:19:25 PM    birgator   Posts: 3 Joined: 11/25/2007 Status: offline Happy to find the design patent on the bottom of this brown deco era bottle -- registered in 1932 (as near as I can tell, Mr. Boston started in 1933). No label, no cap. Found the design patent, D88745, some sort of huge pontil in the bottom, and a symbol with a circle, and an ellipsis, with an I or a 1 inside, 432 around it. Amber, just under 11-1/2:" high, no doubt held a quart. Should I do something with this or leave it my driveway where it's been for the last couple of years (there's a pair actually). Here (sorry about the dust) ... edges are slightly depressed,  sharp and has a distinctly mottled, striated appearance inside the circle. Status: offline Hi  Brenda OP The circular ring/scar is the owens suction ring/scar from the automatic bottle machine. The scar can sometimes be very rough and if you are not familiar with them can be interepted as a pontil. So, back to my original question. Do they go back in the driveway, or do they have any value at all?
