2 Eagle Flasks - Help ID them? - 7/24/2003 7:30:27 PM

Greetings. I came upon your site in my search regarding two antique flasks which I found in my cousin' s home in Upsate, MA. The house is a pre 1800s house, so I am pretty sure they are pre 1900.

I am curious as to their history/approximate date, maker and collectable value, if any. Other than the eagle designs, there are no marks, dates, etc. of anykind on them, that I can see.

The flasks each have different eagle designs on them. They are the same on each side. From my minimal knowledge, they are brown/amber. They' re in great shape, with seemingly no chips on them or anything.

I am new here and hope I have posted correctly. I' ve also tried to attach the photos below. If it doesn' t work, I also have them in an album on Shutterfly.com. The link is:

Sorry, I tried to upload the images and I guess you can only upload 1 per message. So please, if interested, check out the pics on Shutterfly.

Many thanks for any help you can offer me. Please feel free to e-mail me directly at timchick@hotmail.com

Tim,
I believe what you have are two nice flasks. The one with the vertical eagle is a GII-70 or 71, which was made at the Coventry Glass Works in Connecticut. This flask is circa 1840' s or there about. I can' t identify the exact mold number without knowing the size of each, but the maker remains the same. In undamaged condition $200 or so. The second with the dot in the oval slugplate is a GII-88, and was most likely made at the Granite Glassworks in New Hampshire about the same time. Undamaged $125-$175 approx. I hope this helps.

BottlesandMore,

Thanks so mcuh for the valuable info. I e-mailed another individual and his info was exactly the same as yours, so you are definitely right on.

I am most likely putting these on Ebay today or tomorrow. As well as continuing to go through the house. Who knows what else I will find.
:)

Thank you again!

Tim,
You are welcome. I saw them listed and that you checked with Jeff Noordsy also. If I can help at another time, feel free to contact me.
