Any ideas on this logo? The dump appeared to be from the 60s but the bottle denies that idea.

Chess is a drinking game now? Check out this wierd bottle!

Any idea what it was for?

I'll edit this up a little better later.

Peace
Isaac

It's a beer bottle, here's some info from  the glass makers marks site.

That is a pre 1900 beer bottle. I have one just like it. I had thought the AB was Anhauser Busch but I think I found it was possibly American Bottle Co. I will try to find the research I did on it and get back to you. It is a common bottle  not that valuable but very nice noe the same.

1900 to about 1905, American Bottle Co. the busch bottles had a simular logo on the bottom but the letter are not conected and the glass manufacture mark would be under the logo.

Thanks Joel and Warren. Do either of you have any idea on the other bottle? The reason I said it looked like chess turned into a drinking game was because the top looks like a Rook. The sides remind me of castle walls, too. Such a cool bottle, big as my forearm. Oh, there's a thread at the base of the chesspiece that makes exactly one rotation.

I yield to Caps observation c1900 and stand corrected.

With regards to the other one: Does the top of that bottle come off?

No, like I said, there's a thread at the base of the "rook" that goes around the outside just once. I'm inclined to think it had some sort of screw-on cup for a lid.

I have never seen it before but the shape of it leads me to think it is a food jar of some sort. The lip seems dipped in a couple of places. Is that for pouring or are they chips? Nice bottle by the way. I would like to see again after it is cleaned up.

They are definately not chips. For high/low points are evenly spaced all the way around. I guess it could be for pouring.

I wonder are there more out there, so I can have a complete giant glass bottle chess set?

I suppose that might be a reasonable use Spencer. I'm uploading a few pictures of the cleaned bottle right now.

very interesting find and a nice bottle!

So the number 67 on the bottom doesn't indicate the year it was produced? These things always confuse me.

EDIT: Oh, and the AB bottle has 9-B embossed in tiny letters on the bottom of the side in case it matters.

Joel, just went back and checked out your website, pretty impressive. I love that pickle jar! I am trying to do something similar, illustrating some of the bottles and other things I have collected over the years. Spencer was giving me a hand getting started with it which I thought was pretty cool for him to do. I have a long way to go with it. Would like to add some more text to it at a later date, once things start going right around here gain! With my computer breaking down, kind of brought things to a halt. This old computer will not recognize my camera for some reason. I have been trying to do some scans on some of the bottles, but the outcome is not too impressive as for the quality of the pictures. I will get there though as the weeks go on. Here is a link to some of my JUNK! I am sure you will see at least one or two things that might catch your interest.
