I recently added a few nice bottles to my collection through ebay. Here is the first. It is a Franz Thoene steamer soda from Baltimore. This one is listed as rare in the Baltimore Bottle Book, simply because the eagle is facing right. I do own one and have seen probably 20 of the Thoene blobs with the eagle facing the left instead which are much more common. This one is certainly a needle in a haystack of Franz Thoene variants.

Here is a picture of the blob with the other variant I own. There is still one more I need that has no eagle embossed at all.

Here is a close up of the embossing. As you can see the eagles even look different. The new one I just got has him clutching one branch in both talons, and the other one I already had has him clutching two seperate branches, one in each talon.

I was also able to get this very hard to find unlisted Baltimore milk for a steal since the seller had no idea where it was from, so they didnt include a location in the title or description so I doubt many saw it. The Baltimore Bottle Book lists the pint and quart from this dairy both as rare, but they do not list a half pint at all, so this was a really good one to score. The seller said it was dug in a NJ dump, 40 years ago. It made a nice long travel there from Baltimore.

Last but not least I was able to add this fairly hard to find local Catonsville pharmacy bottle to the collection. I already had a tough to find smaller size that is not listed in the Baltimore Bottle Book, but I believe this size is listed as uncommon and is the only size listed.

Cool bottles Henry! I like the opposing eagles.

Here is the last picture, comparing it with my smaller sized one I dug over in Catonsville a few months ago.

Love those birdy blobs

Milks are fun too. I only have a plain looking one from Montclair. I have dug probably a dozen different local ones though, all have been broken... Nice finds!

Thanks Joe! I thought it was very cool that these bottles were made with the eagles facing different directions. I guess one is older than the other, and they are certainly completely different molds.

Connor, thanks. Anytime I can get a nice Baltimore pictural blob, I will pay a good price. I have quite a few really tough local milks that go for big $$$ if they are found. My digging partner Joey has a few of them still cant seem to get any for my self.
