RE: 5 point star on base of pt - 9/15/2008 12:28:42 PM    jimsears   Posts: 16 Joined: 9/5/2006 Status: offline This open star is also found on the base of a quart with THE MARION JAR above the regular Mason's embossing.  The quart and this pint have both been reported in a deep greenish aqua color that is typical of Marion's glass.  While there is certainly no proof that Marion also made the pint, I would guess that it did.  Marion often used old molds and added its name above the existing embossing.  However, the pint jars were small enough that there might not have been room to add THE MARION JAR above MASON'S.  The Marion jar is also found with a triangle on the base, and these symbols were more likely mold identifiers than trademarks of any company.    Jim Sears (in reply to arthur) Post #: 4
