A Whitney Glass works hat Glassboro New Jersey. - 12/31/2010 7:16:54 PM    Steve/sewell Posts: 4244 Joined: 1/23/2010 Status: online This hat is a home brew for me as it was made at the famous Whitney Glass works in present day Glassboro New Jersey. I currently live but 6 miles from the site of these works.This hat is taller then other similar end of day hats indicative of the 1840 to 1865 end of the civil war period as the taller hats were becoming more fashionable after the mid century.Just look at what president Lincoln wore.The hats blue color is unmistakably Whitney Glass works blue in color.This piece is flawless and is tall at 5 inches in height,by 6 inches long by 4 inches wide.I found this one locally at an antique store.
