I'm having trouble finding a dump here in south Jersey... My grandma's house is in Manahawkin, near the very historic town of Barnegat, so any help would be appreciated!

Anyway, I decided to go to an antique shop today... It's called Green Acres Barn or something... the owner was really nice, and there's a ton of antiques of all types, I'd highly recommend going. There were a lot of bottles there... mostly ACL sodas, ketchups, some milks, and other common stuff. I managed to find a couple things I liked, and got them cheap.

I don't have any labeled meds, because I don't usually like them, but something struck me about these. I figured I could sell them for more than I paid, but now I've decided I kind of like them! They're labeled and embossed, so I think that makes them better. One is embossed with a cool mortar and pestle logo that has "United" and "Chemists" in it. The label has the logo on either side, and also says "UNITED CHEMISTS/ UNITED RETAIL CHEMISTS CORPORATION/ Cor. Bergenline Ave. and Lewis St./ UNION CITY N. J.".

They're both tooled tops. This one is slightly older than the other. Lauer Drug Co. later became United Chemists. Union Hill became Union City in 1925, so this is probably 1910-1920. The label says "LAUER DRUG CO./ UNION HILL BRANCH/ Bergenline Ave. Cor. Gardner St. UNION HILL, N.J.". The back is embossed with some measuring marks in CC's and ounces, as well as "LAUER DRUG CO.". I like it...

Here's a milk I took a gamble on. I'm thinking it's 1890's, which is the oldest milk I've found. It's got a tooled top, and it doesn't have a regular milk top. The bore is completely smooth, with no inset for a paper cap. It's clear with a small tint of amethyst, which you don't often see on milks. It's probably a quart size, but it has no measurement embossing.

The back is embossed with "TO BE WASHED/ AND RETURNED". The front has a blank round slug plate. I know the embossed ones go for big bucks, but what do you think I could sell one like this for?

You don't see tooling marks on a milk every day!

There was another couple bottles there I debated buying... One was a quart sized ACL Lord Calvert soda bottle from Baltimore. It looked nice, but I know those ACL's are hit or miss.

Nice milk, I dug a half pint with an 1889 patent date on the base.  I'm gonna say they go from $10-20?  Maybe a little more.  If it had a dairy name on it that would bring some cash.

I dug an old half pint like that once that was embossed "stolen from" and then the dairy name. Was from NYC. Went to clean it at home and ooops dropped it on the cement :'( still upset about it to this day.

No, but thanks for asking. I'm sure I'll find a whole one eventually. I bet there's a lot of variations of George Greason bottles, as I've found quite a few whole, and even more broken. I bet your bottle is from this mold, except they added a logo to the slug plate, and used a crown top instead of a blob.

I notice you find Paterson's and stuff up there too, if you find any other Essex County bottles, let me know!
