Dug these the other week in a baby tick infested area. Had to pull out about 60 of these suckers with tweezers. Still managed to dig an early Richmond Anheuser-Busch, rare sieburg aqua bottle from Charlottesville, and dug about 5 of the common Pabst beers. They date to around 1905. I am new to this site, hopefully the pic will work.

Which bottle would you be trading the pabst for? I don't mind trading.

Hi, I dig around the charlottesville area in orange and louisa counties. I have had more luck with 1890-1910 dumps; I have had less luck finding any pontiled bottles. I have met some of  the VA collectors/diggers on other forums. Where are you from?

Nice stuff new fella, 1890 worx for me.

VaDigger - we never quite made that C-Ville dig, I am up for it.  I am sure Casey (aka Kanudigit) will make a road trip up.  May also be some other Richmond diggers who would join.  We could move some dirt which is what is needed in big pock-marked dumps.  Casey also has some Hampton Roads dumps that still have some mileage on 'em - we could go that way as well.

Hey VA diggers -
I'm very close to C'ville and could make it, if planned, even if its just a couple of us.

Another subject --- I don't always have Sundays off ...Anyone want to dig during the week. Fall's almost here and I expect to be out more with the shovel.

Have shovel, will travel! If we go with E, bring water proof underwears. He's like the Jaques Coostow of digging. Except he doesn't have scuba gear.
Butt seriously, it would be great to get more than 2 people at the big/large/huge dump that Jon and me first dug. It is 20's and earlier, and just keeps giving up stuff. And we havn't been there in 5-6 months.

A little off target, but i took my family to WVA on vacation this summer. Near beaver creek state park, about an hour east of charlottsville. I have to say thats Gods country down there. Wide open highways, hills, beautiful forests, friendly people. Plus some great fishing lakes. I keep telling my wife, 9 more years and I'm done working. Just give me a fishing pole and a bottle dump and I'm good.

Jesster,

You are speaking my language - if I am not digging bottles I want to be fishing.  Just so happens that I have alot more prime angling spots than diggin spots...  I have two spots that can combine fishing and bottle hunting = what could be better?

Casey, sounds like you're ready to do some digging, I will have a shot after late next week, but I would rather dig something older than 1920's.  I really want to get back in that marsh that we were searching a couple weeks ago = see what lies downstream.  Snorkling equipment should suffice...

Hi, "Meech", I know its been a while since we talked on the other bottle forum, but I have been busy as a builder; have not had the chance to dig as much as I did before, but will have more time this fall. If you want to dig a few dumps with others we can try to organize a digathon. Anyway, I  will renew my membership (I know its late) to the RABCA. Sadly, I will not be able to make it to this week's meeting, which I would have loved to have attended, but the trip would make me get there too late.

Hi, I took a pic of my two sieburg bottles I have dug in the C-Ville area. The one on the right is similar to the one pictured in the Virginia soda book from last year. The one I just dug is probably a few years earlier. "Sieburg & Company, imperial carbonated beverages, Charlottesville, VA" . Nothing on base. - I try to dig most of my bottles, but do collect the local druggists off ebay, and occassionaly buy the rarer VA beers or liquors (empty off course.) I do have a Rockbridge Alum Water bottle, but never dug any intact Harrisonburg bottles. Have you dug any C-ville or Gordonsville bottles?

Hey Garrick -
I wondered where you had gone. I think I mailed you 'The Digger' for September, (I'm not sure) just to respark your interest. The thing to do is make it to our Show Oct. 4 and renew there. Then, you'll be set through 2009.

It doesn't have to be a digathon, but I'm ready to head northwest (from here) to dig w/ you guys out that way. Keep in touch and we can get together when we're off this fall.

Nice finds!

GG - I meant to mention publicly, that after many many years, I'm done w/ that forum. I still look in, but I will not post there unless I have to and it has to be really important. I have nothing but complaints about Admin and the mods. (one at least) as I'm sure many other members who left there, feel the same.

Sorry for the bad vibe... that's just the way it is there.

I enjoy reading and looking at everyone's finds, sometimes at different forums; I do admit that some of the posters have created a sort of  monopoly and will actually control the forum itself, sometimes ignoring new users, creating a closed-knit forum. Anyway, I plan on attending the bottle show in Oct.; If your still interested, we can try to organize a dig. I am working on getting permission to an icepit that may be promissing.
