This is my first post in this forum topic.  I don't usually collect ACL's but I was offered this soda and could not pass it up.  Great condition amber 7-up.  Any help on age and value would be appreciated...Thank you....Ron

It's kind of neat Ron. It's like a squat beer or a steinie or something. I have no idea if its more rare than normal but I can tell you that I only find them in green bottles that have the typical soda shape. Hope its great!

Tim (TJ)..heres a pic of the bottom.  Believe it's a 9 - 6 - 6 the middle 6 below the emblem and a dot following each 6. It does say Houston on the back. Interesting bottle...Thnks for the feedback...Ron

That's odd. Even though it doesn't have Duraglass on the bottom, the 6 does indeed have the dot which marks it as a 1946 bottle. Huston must have kept this bottle longer than most. Usually by the end of the 1930's most bottlers had switched to the green slim bottle. Of course most used paper labels up to that point as well. That's a nice bottle you have there.

That one in the link is especially nice condition but that is the most I've seen one of those sell for.  I need to find some more of those.  I've sold about 10 of them in various conditions in the last 3 years.

As I mentioned - I don't really collect or know soda's, but I know a good deal.  Thank you for the feedback.  I'll hang on to it for trading or something at a later date....Ron

I don't know what to make of this.  One sells for $265. and then the next two don't even bring $50.  Here is one without the label that didn't even get a $10. bid.  I guess the market is mighty fickle on these.

For those of you who have the "ACL Soda Bottles" book published by the Painted Soda Bottles Collectors Association, you will see where one of those amber 7up's is shown in picture #6 that is from San Diego, California, and dated 1936. It also indicates that one sold sometime between 1995/97 for $125.00.

I recall one time back in the late 1970s when I was primarily interested in Coke bottles, and I saw one of these squat 7up's that a dealer was selling for $5.00, but I passed it up and bought a full 24 count case of 6 oz. embossed Coke bottles instead for $10.00 - and that included the original wood case they came in!  Man-O-Man ... how times (and prices) have changed.
