An Insulator Amongst the Ice - 12/5/2006 9:39:04 PM    Yooper14 Posts: 313 Joined: 4/25/2005 From: Ohio Status: offline Oh man - winter is here!  I'm now reduced to chipping off a 3 inch deep shell of frozen earth to access diggable dirt...and loving every minute of it.  Actually, I prefer digging in the cold.  Having grown up in on the shores of Lake Superior, I HATE the heat...this weather is wonderful.  (It was 20 for a high today) Anyhow, I have a huge box of cleaning to do.  The sun goes down 10 minutes after I get off work.  My wife and I have a 2 year old and a 3 week old.  SO...my posts have necessarily been limited.  I DID clean up this insulator.  My experience with Porcelin Insulators has been that they are all fairly modern, but I yanked this one out of an older section of the dump last Sunday.  Can anyone help me out in IDing it? Hopefully I can get some of my treasures cleaned up and posted.... RE: An Insulator Amongst the Ice - 12/5/2006 11:49:54 PM    JGUIS   Posts: 1931 Joined: 3/18/2006 From: New Lexington, OH Status: offline Oops, I forgot, embossed Ohio Brass pieces are from 1907-1940 and usually stamped somewhere on the crown, recessed embossing(like a wax seal stamp) was used from 1940 to about 1970 and was on the skirt.  They also started sandblasting in the 50s and dating them. _____________________________ Problems are not solved by the same level of thinking that created them. Brydges, Ontario Status: offline  The marking is actually visible in your last photo - on the front crown, near the top. A "B" inside of a circle.
