Good point RD.
Unfortunately people are making labels and sticking them on slicks. The bottles known without labels are embossed obviously but maybe not all of them were.

Even worse:
Numerous old caches of original unused labels were found back in the 1960s/1970s. These labels used to be had at antique fairs for next to nothing back then. These days, those original labels are commonly glued to slicks in an obviously haphazard manner and are offered on ebay on a regular basis.
