Hi Everyone
I found a pretty good use for all those common slicks. I also collect beach glass so I got the idea of filling them up different color beach glass then I fill the bottle up with water, cork it then I put them in the window sill. Natural sunlight shining through the bottle really brings out all the colors of the beach glass. The lamp light in the picture below doesn't do it justice. The bottle in the picture isn't done yet, I still have to add some more beach glass to fill up the neck part. Sometimes though after a while algae will grow in the bottle. I'm thinking of adding small amount of rubbing alcohol to the bottle to see if this will prevent the growth of algae. I'm going to try it on a 1/2 pint warranted flask next.

Anthony

Great idea, looks very cool, a few drops of bleach should take care of the algae..Jim

Thanks epackage. My wife really likes the looks of them in the window sills. Thanks also for the idea of using bleach. I like that idea better than using rubbing alcohol'

When I first started collecting bottles , the Misses would put colored water in the plain clear bottles and display them in the windows .

I use them for bottle sacrifices to ensure a good harvest of antique glass.

I know what you're saying. Sometimes an old slick is just crude enough or an unusual enough of a shape or color to be brought home. I don't do it enough but I do like to paint on old bottles. I've painted deer, beer and an eagle. My next goal is a moose on a big quart sized chemical style slick. Swiz

Good idea.  Beach glass is pretty cool. Why not just take some seawater and bottle it?

I find sea glass all the time and fill apothecary jars with them.
