I received this flask as a gift. It was purchased at a Tack Shop in Virginia, and is apparently of English origin. It appears to be made of cut glass.

The bottom of the flask separates to become a cup. I believe the cap and the cup are made of pewter.

I took these three pictures of the flask. The first shows the flask in assembled form, the second in disassembled form, and the third shows the markings on the flask, as well as I can photograph them at the current time.

I hope that I am in the correct forum--I know very little about flasks, and I couldn't find any seam that came through the lip. :^)

Thank you all very much!

There seems to be silver hallmarks on the top of the bottle. Run down to the library and get a book on silver hall marks and check it out. The hallmarks will be able to tell you the maker, year and city.

This is probably the best source for decoding hallmarks...

You know, I think I am just too long in the tooth...I keep forgetting you can look most of this up on the internet. I do love books though...

A nice flask , even has a cup that can be removed to drink from . I saw one of these a while back only a bit fancier, it was dated to the civil war period .
