I have hunted West Tenn for 30 + years and never have I seen this slug plated Chero Cola. I dig the reg ones all the time but never knew this one existed. Anyone know anything about it I would guess Teens-1920 era as that was the era of the dump. I found several nice sodas but this is the one I liked.

I've sent the link for this bottle to Mike Elling. He collects mainly Nehi-RC and Chero bottles and should, if anyone does, know about this one.

If he replies to me, I'll put his comments here - or he may register and make his own post.

You sure dig some cool bottles Bob. I have seen Chero Cola bottles from all over the place but that is the first slug plate Chero I have ever seen. If there is a Chero Cola bottle with value that has got to be it. Great find.

It's the only one I have ever seen from Jackson or anywhere in West Tenn. I had a friend who had a error one one time that had Jacksonville Tenn on it but that is it. I think it is Rare I am gauging it on no one I have ever dug with or seen in this area has ever saw one (I called several of the old time diggers this afternoon and they all said never heard of it all they had dug was reg Chero Colas). It looks like in 30 years of digging some of us would have at least seen a broken one or a piece of one but 0. When it popped out this morning I thought it ws a slug plated Coke (I DUG ONE LAST YEAR AND IT'S THE ONLY ONE ANYONE HAS SEEN LIKE IT ALSO) when I wiped it off and read Chero Cola I said what the He** never knew this was out there. I also got some other Sodas a real nice Blackberry Cola and several 1915 Cokes and Coke Flavor Bottles and a nice 1/2 gal stone Whiskey jug.  Here's the Blackberry Cola.

Nice bottle, can't help but think it is pretty rare.  I'm here in Georgia, and have a 75+ bottle Chero collection from all over the state of Georgia.  There are two slug plate Cheros in Ga that I know of: a Dawson, Ga. that had block lettering in the slug plate, and a Moultrie, Ga. with a cursive Chero Cola in the slug.  I have neither, would really like one of the Moultrie slug plates.  Does anyone know exactly why there were only a few that used the slug plate, and everyone else used a similar bottle and script?  (There were some minor differences in bottle shape and lettering, but basically the 1912 had a horseshoe cursive script ((of course it looked alot  like Coca Cola) 1913 had a cursive slant script, and 1914-1922 had a block slanted script.)  Anyway, you've got a nice one there...keep the Cheros coming!

"Chero Mike" answered me. Here's his reply:

Hi Kathy; I have seen 5 of these over the past 20 years in this area (he lives outside Memphis, in Sharon, Tenn.). There is one mold version with the incorrect spelling of "Jacksonville" instead of "Jackson" and that is the most valuable.
According to Dennis Smith, there is also a "Chero Soda Water" in this same format, but I have never seen that one.

Not as much answer as I would have liked, but still some info. I figured this was a great bottle - and guess that's correct.

It has Chatt 21 in tiny letters on back edge. So I would say it was made by Chattanooga Glass in 1921. Thanks for all the response and help I like to dig something good and unusual now and then it keeps it interesting.
