I was antiquing on my way home from Richmond Va. yesterday and ran across a pontiled Balto. Druggist. I can't remember the initials preceeding the name but it was "something, something, Rogers and Bros." Baltimore md. I would have bought it but it had a large chip off the lip and was still priced $50. I took the man's business card just in case it was worth buying and having sent to me. So, all of you Baltimore Collectors put on your thinking caps and help me figure out whether it's worth over $50.

Chips are never good what ever the price. If it means something to you grab it. If you looking at it as an ivestment I'd take a pass.

It didn't mean much to me or I would have bought it. I'm just curious about how rare it is. I do know it's listed as rare in the Balto. Book but that doesn't tell me if it's a good deal. the way I see damage on a collectible is relative to how scarce it is. If the bottle is never available on the market then a chip wouldn't make much difference to most collectors who don't have it.

Zane,

It depends on the size if its identical to the one pictured in this link then I'd pass. Most Baltimore pontiled bottles are pretty rare when compared to thoes from similar sized cities.

If I'm not mistaken it had a flared lip. but otherwise is identical to the one in your photo, Chris. Thanks for the info.

The flared Lip version is a bit harder to find in good condition. But that's the problem with flared lips.

So $50 is still too much?....Worst part is he has two amber Frederick Md. Druggists but they're a bit too much for me too.

If I collected Balt meds I might consider it but its hard to resale pontil meds with signifcant damage unless they are really special.
What's "too much" for Frederick druggist bottles? I can only think of a couple that were amber.

$230 for one and $130 for the other and both were very small sizes.
