Hi to you all. I found this site while "googling" bottles I found in my walls while remodeling my bathroom. As far as I can tell they are, I'm guessing here, 1964 pepsi cola glass bottles. They look just like ones from the late 40's I've seen online. They are in great condition the painted labels are intact and none are broken. However. My house was built in the fifties and is all original. So, perhaps the bottles are much older. This could be because the other interesting thing I found was that the bottles were in a 1950 cardboard six pack carrier for hires rootbeer. Again the carrier is in perfect condition. The bottles are 12 oz and the stamps on the bottoms say:
DES PAT 120.277, then 15A, then the center is a B with a circle, then tempered glass, and 1264. Any info? I'm curiously interested in this now. Thanks and cool site!!

That hires rootbeer carrier might be the best item that you found. Not too many older carriers survived. It is neat that you found them in the wall, wonder how they got there?

Do the pepsis have the town bottling company painted on them? Do they have the fancy "Pepsi-Cola" script or the more plain font?

Naturally, pictures would help a great deal if you can take and post some.

Also, welcome to the forum!

Plumbata< thats the curious part to me. the carrier reads 1951 pat. so im guessing the bottles are older than i guessed going by the stamp. my house was built in 1950-1953. im thinking builders on a break stuck the trash from the break they were on and drywalled them into a "cript" for 60 years until i decided to update the bathroom

I am no expert at dating sodas but have always assumed that for pepsis the month and year codes are in the center of the base. In the picture of the base, in the center on either side of what I guess is the "B" I see on the left a "4" and on the right a "5?" which I think corresponds to the month and then year of manufacture. So April of 195? (I can't read what the number is on the right side)

What Bottling company are they from? On the back in white letters it should what town(s) they are from. Usually the smaller the town, the better the bottle. Yours are clearly about as mint as they come.

That carrier is probably from the time frame you said the house was constructed, judging from the sub-yearly revisions to the patent though often older patents are found on newer items. In this situation, the case would probably not be newer than the pepsis found inside it. The case also looks about as mint as they come and is probably a good item to collectors.

Please tell us what numbers are on the other side of the "4" in the center of the base and that will probably indicate the date of manufacture for the bottles.

Nice finds, btw.

thanks. the numbers look to be stamped 55. which would be accurate to the building of the house. the bottler is pepsi cola, new york new york. so much for small towns. haha
as a side note all this got me thinking and i dug out my pepsi and coke bottles from morrocco africa i brought back in about 1990. the pepsi bottle is stamped on the bottom Casablanca. pretty cool.

Nice I guess the mystery is solved! Yeah with them being from NYC I'd say that the hires case is the most desirable of the items, probably in the 15-20 dollar range. Not bad as far as freebies from the wall go.

That Casablanca Pepsi is nice, though the Arabic logo certainly doesn't have the visual "ring" to it that the old "Pepsi-Cola" logo does, at least to my American eyes.   I bet they use real sugar too, instead of corn syrup. The real sugar sodas taste better and are more satisfying, since they are more "liquid" than thick or sticky which is less desirable in my opinion
