How can you tell a repo from a true bitter? I have come across two 5 1/2 inch Ball and Claw Bitters. The trouble I have yet two find any that look the same on the net. And there is no company name. Just started to get into this hobby and am hooked. Thanks for any info. I have pic's available.

Don't think I've ever seen a real Ball & Claw, heck I'm not even sure there ever was a real one, I know Wheaton made a million of them in many colors and a few different sizesd....Jim

Hello MrHatedOne;  I sent you an PM - and this to welcome you to this new hobby - the participation will change your life with a lot of new learning opportunity.  Enjoy.   Learn to identify the Whearton repro's by their outlined phony pontil mark that is a miss-shaped phony pontil recessed in the glass.   RED Matthews

Thanks for the replies. I will post some pic's as my eyes are burning from all the reading I have done today. What differs in a Bitter that says "made in tawain" to the ones that just say Whearton NJ? thanks again.

The Tawains are basically bad repros of the Wheaton repros...

There is an "H" above Ball and from what I can tell a circle "c" and a "W" "71" above Claw. Both identical except for color.

Thanks Joe, and no there is no story for the name. Just something I came up with. So are they worthless?
