My digital camera came in so I thought I would start posting some more pictures. Here is a Bludwine bottle that I found last week in the creek dump I have been hunting. It has an applied crown top and is embossed: DRINK DELICIOUS BLUDWINE FOR YOUR HEALTHS SAKE It also is embossed "BLUDWINE BOTTLING CO. RUSTON, LA. I don't know everything about the bottle but I did find this out: Bludwine was touted as "an elixir for the blood" and as "an aid to digestion." The slogan "For your health's sake" was featured prominently in many of the company's advertisements and some physicians were prescribing the soft drink as a blood tonic. These unsubstantiated health claims drew the attention of the federal government and in 1921 the Food and Drug Administration forced the company to change the drink's name from Bludwine to Budwine, deleting any reference to blood. The company was also forced to remove any health claims from its advertisements and decided to change the drink's slogan to "Makes you glad you're thirsty." You can read a little bit more at this link: A little more about Bludwine Anyway, here is the picture of my bottle. Enjoy the info. kaw
