I first posted this bottle back in 2006 right after I first dug it. To date I'm still no farther on finding out any more about it then I did back then. I've even contacted Digger O'dell and apparently stumped him as well. This is all the info I've found out about a possible link to the bottle:

University Of Pennsylvania's Medical Dept. of Matriculants, 1806-1852, Addendum 1853, 1857, 1860. There is a listing for a Jas M. Boisnot from Six Mile Run, N.J. and he attended the university in 1857.

Not much but the only Boisnot I could find in the medical industry. I'm wondering if this should be considered a med or a poison and if anyone else has any more info on it. The bottle is only 6" tall. And here's some pics. Thanx for reading and for any help that you can give me. Swiz

Photobucket. Are the pics to big for you? I hate to have to use the scroll bar back and forth to read the whole thing. I have editing software on my computer but it won't let me resize the pics. I apologize for the inconvenience. If someone can help me with the resizing problem through photobucket I'd appreciate it. Swiz

Why can't I edit the first post? I did figure out the resizing thing and wanted to post the reduced pics. Hey Admin, can you delete this thread so I can start a new one with reduced pics. Thanx, Swiz

Hey Jason,

I'd say it's a druggist bottle from the Boisnot Apothecary.

"SHOPS AND STORES 17

Manhattan and the Bronx; Liggett' s Drug Stores, Broadway and 34th

Astor, also three other branches. Haas Pharmacy, 38 E. 22d St.,

I believe the Boisnot in question was Henry S. Boisnot. You might have a look at this GooglyBook page, sorry, I'm googlybook blind.

You might also check this issue of The Alumni Journal of the College of Phar-

Maybe This Page? Good luck in your research. It sure is a handsome bottle.

Yes they are helpful. I still have a lot of reading to do on the alumni one. Its good to see that my suspicions of this med being from NYC has been almost completely confirmed. Henry S. Boisnot is listed in the ERA Pharmacy at 74th & 78th & Broadway. My guess is that the reason for this being a blue bottle was because it was strong meds. Maybe not poisonous unless in larger amounts. Seems like if it was a poison then it would have some ribbing or an odd shape. Thanx for the links. Swiz

Jason,

I tried to rapidly scan that Alumni Journal, but missed the reference to Boisnot. I included it because I had a strong "hit" there, and it seemed a likely spot. Hopefully you'll find more, and please let us know when you do.

I'm down to #51 so far and I'm about to pass out blind. Holy crap that's a lot to read through. I'm going slow and making sure that if its there I'm not going to miss it. I'll do some more tomorrow. I'm off to bed here in a few. The wicked head and throat cold has got me whooped. Swiz

Wow, I'm glad that's over with. I went rather slow so that I wouldn't miss it and I didn't see any mention of Boisnot. I know I'm not doing that again. Swiz

Sorry about the bum steer on that one, Swiz. Hope there was some other good nuggets of Boisnot...
