Hello,I would first like to let everyone know how cool this forum is,WAY COOL!I've been a closet bottle collector for some time now(come from a tough background...long story)Collecting  helped keep me on the good path.New to this computer world too.Big.Make real world look small.I see asking for help is O.K.You are good people to freely share what you understand!First of many questions: can someone help in identifying this?IT looks to be from a three piece mold, tooled lip and the color is clear(SCA)Thank you

Welcome aboard, Anthony.
Your bottle looks like a scent bottle, from your picture.
Very nice and very collectable.

Well, if it is that big then it probably isn't a scent bottle.
It looks like the shape of a powderhorn, so maybe it was a candy container.

Maybe it is a cornucopia or "horn of plenty".

Now this is just a guess. Could it be a vase? Not any vase but one they used to put in cars. In the teens and before and into the 20s vases were made for the better cars. It would have been attached to the door post for the rear seat passengers. This is just  guess, seems like I've seen something like that for that. Warren knows what I'm talking about.

I sold one of these in FEB. at the Rome bottle show. It is a powder horn figural that held whiskey or candy. it has a hole on one end and a notch on another as you can see in the picture that probably had a piece of leather attached  or something like that as a powder horn would have. It is bimal . Pretty heavy. I bought it for $8 and sold it for $20. HOPE THAT HELPED. WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!

Ithought about the vase thing too,but if it was, it wouldn't have the curve at the bottom. Also it has a loop to hang off of something.Believe me I've thought about this one alot.Plus the inside is smooth,so I thought, pressed glass?

Its a whiskey flask. A local distiller around here used to use them back in the day, either Moul or Foust, cant remember.

Not trying to start nothing, just consider that it may be a candy container. If it held whiskey it would't hold much as at the last of the bottle is solid glass and wouldn't hold anything. Also the inside of the container is very thick and would not hold as much as it appears. A candy container makes more sense as ,with most candy containers, after the contents are gone the kid has a toy that can be played with: in this case a powder horn. OH WELL! JUST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT .

They may have been used for various products.

http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=025&category=28221&sspagename=WDVW&viewitem=&item=380037185320&rd=1

Based on the stopper style of this one I would agree that it was a perfume.
It is not,  however,  flint glass and it is not from the 1870s Where do people come up with this stuff?

Matt, that doesnt look to be the same horn and looks much smaller and has legs, I could be wrong. That one there on ebay is def. a perfume. The one ajohn posted is the same ive seen a number of times here locally, one was with full contents, lable, chain, and stopper. It was a give away, probly the reason it didnt hold much liquid.
