Goodwill find. $7.99 but it was the color of the week on the sticker so I got it for half price. I don't think its old but would you turn it down for $3.49? This thing has more bubbles then glass. A small pot stone, some extra glass around the base of the lip. Its smooth outside and bubbly feeling on the inside. I'm thinking of getting one of those battery operated tea light candles to put in it for a night light. So any idea on the maker, age or any history. I could care less if its worth a million. I love it and its mine, I just wanna know more about it. Swiz

Yup its a Paterson NJ piece. Just look at that close up of the bubbles until you see Paterson NJ appear. Its not matrixing its just looking too hard so go ahead and just look at it. This thing is the lightest shade of apple green too. I love it. I wish it was stamped or embossed or at least still had the Made in China by Korean workers with glass from Taiwan still on it. This one would definitely be a challenge for surfaceone. Old or not those bubbles are stacked and sweet. If I could only make that bubble pic in 3-D. Swiz

Like helpful stuff? If you wanted that just say so.
It's a modern art glass piece. Adding bubbles was a thing to do, kind of like crackle glass.
It's just a vase IMHO.
Sorry to burst everyone's... nope not gonna say it.

I kinda knew it was newer. I just want to know more smart stuff about it. Any idea who made it? Rough age 1920-2011? I'm guessing 1980's or newer. Any other info would be cool too. Thanx for the help guys. Swiz

Cool!
I used to find alot of good stuff at my goodwill up here, I haven't in awile though except for a common Wyeth bros bottle and a few other commons ( I go there almost everyday after work.)  To many people go there now I think.  A few years ago someone donated some sacred items belonging   to a Holy Monk or something like that by accident and it was in the local paper, ever since that there's been more people going there, plus the prices have gone up, they were asking $5 a peace for small Wheaton Repro bottles that used to be a $1.79 last year. Sometimes they sell old stuff for a price you'd expect to see an an antiques store.  Part of the fun in going to thrift stores is finding this stuff at bargain prices, not what you'd pay at an antiques store or from a collector/dealer of antiques.

I did find a St Drakes 1860 plantation cabin bitters for $1.29  a few years ago, I've seen the exact same version I bought  sell for $170.  So every once and awhile you can find good deals in places like these.

I wish I knew more about antiques in general. A person could probably make a decent living buying at goodwill and thrift shops to resell to collectors. Earlier this year I found a big jewel covered spider. Paid $12.50, saw on sell on ebay for $150. That's my bets Goodwill find so far. The Drakes I have a paid a buck for but its cracked all the way around. Still wouldn't sell it. I love my Drakes.

Same here Swizzle, I see all sorts of China and other dishes, stuff that looks like Depression era glass ( quite a bit of it actully) Who knows how many valuable antiques I've passed up because I don't know what it is.
is there any way to tell if china is old or real depression glass from glass that just looks like depression Era?

About the only way to tell id to bury your face into antique books for most of the day and really educate yourself. That alone would be a full time job and even then you'd still ask yourself silly questions. I'm always remembering something I read about in an antique book and think to myself, "Was that a good one or the repro?" By the time I find the reference I was looking for the item is sold or is worthless. If I buy it because I think I remember it being a good piece then its usually a $5 to $10 piece of crap that I paid $6.49 for. No big win and trying to find someone that will buy it from me is impossible so I usually return it to Goodwill.
