I went wading in the creek with no name, it had gone down from the last rain. I found the 2 shards pictured, one self explanatory, other I found interesting. It looks to be a bottom piece of a jar, yet I am unsure. It has what looks like a stem, and on the bottom it is embossed, ENTERED THE UNITED STATES MAY 23 1899, CANADA in the center. We know where it came from and when, but what is it, any ideas. Also is the bottom embossing common, that is if it is a bottom. I also found what I believe to be a green depression glass pitcher. I was wading where a smaller creek joins this small creek. There was several areas of large rocks ahead. I thought there is no way anything survived intact after tumbling thru that. As I turned to walk back I saw a handle poking out of the sand. I thought well there is a shard might as well see what it is. To my surprise it was an intact green glass pitcher, no markings on the bottom. I am not sure if it is depression glass, I might have to take it to someone that is more knowledgeable than I. That is not the strangest event of the day. After finding the pitcher I walked back to where my I had parked my truck. I drove into the center of town and parked above a small low level dam. My plan was to wade the creek upstream to the south of town. I waded up about a mile or so finding a few worn ACLs and some shards. I came to a slow bend in the creek and along the bank some broken cement had been used to inhibit erosion. One stone caught my eye and I looked closer and discovered it was a tombstone. I looked about and saw that there were at least 6 tombstones along with various marble bases and such. I took a few pictures and included them here. One has a lot of writing in German, the name is broken off though. I hope the pictures are clear enough someone can translate. I plan on scouting a new creek tomorrow, I have two options I am contemplating. Will let you all know how it goes tomorrow night. Have a good one people.
