Does anyone know the date of use or name of this particular type of insulator? Measures close to 3" and the mold lines go down both sides. Thanks, Joe

I bought several of the same insulators back in the 60's for use at my station. By the way, I am an amateur radio operator -- Advanced Class, and since I also collect bottles I am pretty sure they're stiill in the shed. No great value, but they are made of plastic now.

I spent a lot of hours talking two way radio myself in the 1970s Mike . Never did go and get my Ham license, was too lazy to make the trip . Never did buy a ham rig either . I operated a Midland super sideband radio modified to go from the 2700 megahertz on up into the 2800 megahertz , had the clarifier opened up where I could go between channels , with a 350 Varmit linear hooked to it . I talked to a lot of radio operators there on the 2800 megahertz . Could talk ground waves from Ohio to Arizona almost every evening on twelve watts . Talked to a guy out there who operated a ham radio with phone patch capabilities . I have a Sister in Tucson , he would phone patch me to her phone and we would talk for some time on it . Sounded like we were in the same room being it was so clear up in there at that time . Got a lot of enjoyment from it back then . Then it seemed like everyone just got tired of it and went on to different things in my area . I ended up selling off my 350 Varmit linear , and traded my radio off for a table saw and a police scanner ! What a way to end .

Got to sit down at a nice HAM setup at a fellow scout's father had set up (back in my boy scout days) for a day.  Talked to a person in Sweden and others.  Both he and his son (who was fairly young at the time) had their op. license.  Anyway, it was that day that I discovered how they got the com. affect they used on The Empire Strikes Back between the Snow Speeders.  When you tune the channel dial just a smidge off of who you are listening too, you get the same affect.
