RE: Case Gin ? - 5/7/2008 11:17:34 AM    madpaddla Posts: 2532 Joined: 12/29/2005 From: The great state of New England Status: offline Kan: What color is the Case Gin?  Olive or Amber I have seen that mark and a couple other variants on Cases before.  I believe they are of Dutch origin although some cases were blown in places such as CT but those were open pontil.  Regarding age:  Blown (BIM) prob. 1890 - TOC (Turn of Century) There are differing opinons about the dots on the base.  Some think they were vent holes while others think it involved the strength of the gin.  Either or, one of my favorite bottles.  I would be interested if you are parting with it.  Hope this helps Madpaddla < Message edited by madpaddla -- 5/7/2008 11:18:49 AM > (in reply to karis66) Post #: 3

I have read in several book that bottles with stars on the bottom are western bottles.
