I am brand new to this forum. I have always enjoyed getting the odd antique, especially tools and firearms, and now here I am digging for glass. Here is a bottle I have had for about thirty years. It is 9 3/4 tall by 6 1/2 wide by 4 3/4 thick at the bottom. Would this be a Chestnut or ...? I am ignorant about most things glass.
Cheers

Yep, it's a New England chestnut bottle that dates from 1790 to 1820.  Very nice!

Hello kungfufighter,
Well now, I might just be interested in selling. I've had it a good long while now and maybe it would look nice on someone else's shelf for a while. I could take some more photos to give you a better idea.
Cheers

As you can see there is a light surface scratch here, it's about 1 1/4 inches long.

This is not a crack, it's a flaw of some kind?

i'd be interested too. my experience here has been that sometimes nobody will post a reply to my question of rarity and value, but that i'll get a bunch of emails looking to buy.

A decent macro lens makes all the difference.
