Just wondering when these were made? Ive been digging a 20-50s dump (older is somewhere near just havent found it yet) While digging the other day I had a clay color marble and then a blue and white swirl type roll from the rubble. Id always thought the clay were very old? Thanks for any information.

Sounds like you're talking about Benningtons, which can date from any time pretty much... I dig them in my 1890's dump, and I dug a near identical one in a 1940's dump... But generally I'd say you're right, they are older. Maybe some guy, who was a kid in the 1890's, gave his childhood marbles to his grandkids in the 1950's... Then the ungrateful buggers threw it in the dump...

Hmmm, lots of different style clay marbles.... These are the kind I seem to find the most of. Have quite a few Benningtons, and also a few swirls, (which I think are older) By swirls, I'm referring to the China type swirls...Digswithstick is pretty knowledgable on marbles...Haven't seen him on here lately....
