Hi All,

I am very new to this hobby but have always been intrigued by old bottles. I have recently come across a large cache of buried bottles (none older than the 1940's from other debris found in the area). The few that I have retrieved already I have tried to clean with dish soap and a bottle brush. This has had varied results, depending on how much crud/film is in the bottle and the size of the opening. Is there a better method or cleaning solution I should be using. I would also welcome any suggestions on a reference book to date/identify these bottles by the markings on them. The price guides at my local bookstore are not much help. Thanks for any advice that you can provide this newbie!
