New to the forum, what a great place!

I have an amethyst crown bottle that looks similar to a Clevenger, but the mold is different from the other Clevenger crown bottles I've seen. It does not have the beading around the base or down the sides, and the diamond shapes are simpler than the latticed diamonds on other Clevenger crowns I've seen. The mold seam stops at the neck of the bottle. Check photo next msg for the base. It's 6" x 6" x 3.5"

Sorry for multiple posts. I can't figure out how to post more than one pic per. Here's the mouth:

BATBRAT...Clevenger Bros is the only maker I know that used that ruffled mouth on a lot of their wares. Possibly what you have is from an older mold that was reworked or , most likely, replaced. The base of your bottle looks like the mold it was blown in had some damage or repair that seriously affected the glass piece's ability to sit flat.

I been doing some researching and found out very little about these Crown bottles.
Oldest I saw was a Victorian era European made piece:

Then there were the Prince Matchabelli Perfume Crowns....Very similar to the Clevenger pieces...

Another more recent Matchabelli...

I could find no dates for the origins of the Matchabelli Crowns...Leading me to wonder: From whence came their Inspiration?
And , which came first...Clevenger or Matchabelli ?

Must be an optical illusion. The bottom is fairly smooth and quite flat. The bottle sits perfectly level. That round area is a shallow dent. There appears to be no damage to the mold that I can tell. What I mean is, it looks intentional in it's design. Care to elaborate on what kind of damage you think the mold had? I'll try to include a better picture of the bottom.

BTW, thanks very much for your help.

BATBRAT...I fergot me manners...Welcome to the Forum !!

Well, that pic certainly looks better. The 1st one makes it seem as if the left side of the glass base is all distorted...

I still think it's Clevenger....Probably a scarce piece too.
Why don't ya email Tom Haunton and send him a pic? he knows more about Clevenger than anyone else I am aware of.
His Ebay ID is Jerseyana....

Whiskeyman, thanks for the welcome and for the info. I contacted Tom and he was extremely helpful. He told me he thinks my bottle is Italian, and not Clevenger. He added the mold resembles one used by Clayton Glassworks (Jersey glassmakers down the street from Clevengers) and also Downer Glass Works, but doesn't have the same base. He even included photos for comparison. The photo of the Downer crown bottle also had a crimped mouth. Interesting stuff. Thanks again for your help!

BATBRAT...ya know: I get so tired of telling folks their bottles are Italian that I was hoping this one was Clevenger.
Glad TOM was able to help ya out.

TNCGAL did a little hunting and came up with these similar Crowns. All made in Italy and all marked as such...also note none have the ruffled/crimped mouth.

(Thanks TNCGAL).

Leading me to think the Downer Glass Works may be the source of yours....being as TOM stated they also crimped the mouths.... I think it's Circa 1960's to 1970's.

oh...if they were made in Italy, it must have been by some imitator company as Victrylite Candle Co base marked theirs...

One way to tell an Italian repo: they were often made in an Early Owens machine....this machine left two seams at the neck - mouth area....The 2 main body seams ran up the sides and to the neck....at the neck the two seams turn 90 degrees to each other and run on up through the lip....and another seam runs around the neck, usually at the collar or at another nearby juncture.
