Clevenger Dyott repro bringing top dollar - 4/27/2008 12:18:10 PM    sewellbottleman Posts: 378 Joined: 1/29/2007 From: Mantua Township/Sewell section Status: offline What is ashamed about the whole thing is that I bet you that most of the people that have bid this bottle up so high are true collectors not novices.Just look at the pontil it has been tampered with to make it appear older and more worn. As I write this I am holding an original GI-37 Washingtons markings are different ,Taylors markings are different.The size of the lettering on both sides is different  Once again you cant send warning messages to the bidders because of ebays new protect the buyers identity policy. Mckearins page 680 bottom left there are two pictures of   the  GI-37 reproduced by the Clevengers. It is also too large for the bottle.I have compared it to a couple of GI-37s I own and the markings everywhere particularly the pontil are a lot different on the originals.Here is a picture of the bottle up for bid. The pontil looks so real! But then I looked at it closer and saw something wasnt right.
