Tumbling will not remove scratches/wear... Without seeing it, though, I can't be sure if the bottle has been tumbled or not. The base wear makes me think it hasn't been tumbled. The embossing is certainly very weak, but a mold that has been used a lot will have weaker embossing. Add that to the fact that it's an early 1880's bottle (they didn't use mold vent marks then, which make the embossing stronger), and that can make some weak embossing. I have a blob from about the same time period, with embossing just as weak, found with its original wire bail, so it couldn't have been tumbled. So, now I've decided it hasn't been tumbled.
