The first is a 7 1/2 inches high, cobalt mineral water. The front is embossed "M. T. Quinan 1884 Savannah Geo." The back is embossed "Mineral", then the company logo, with "water" under the logo. On the very bottom of the bottle it has the embossed company logo. The embossing is very weak, especially on the back. "Tumbles?" We're not sure. Still a very pretty bottle. I took pictures with the lettering on the front painted in white. Then I removed the paint and took pictures of the bottle without the lettering being highlighted. Price includes U.S. Priority Mail. Insurance is extra. All payments must be made out to my wife, Nina Lindsey, and in the form of a U.S. Postal Money Order. We do not have a checking account and can't get checks cashed. Price $120.00. It is green and over 9 inches tall. By no means an uncommon ink but this is a nice example of the bottle, full of tiny seed bubbles all over. It has a few scratches on it here and there, has some crazing in the neck, otherwise it is super mint. It has a pour spout on the top. The embossing is real good on the bottle. I painted the embossing white, but will be glad to remove the paint if you like before I ship it, or if you would like to see a picture of the bottle with out the white lettering. On the mineral bottle it is evident it still has scrathes,wear etc...if it had been tumbled would they still be there?Just wondering if the weak embossing (especially on the back] is in the making [old mold] of the bottle or due to tumbleingb??THANK YALL! Without seeing it, though, I can't be sure if the bottle has been tumbled or not. The base wear makes me think it hasn't been tumbled. The embossing is certainly very weak, but a mold that has been used a lot will have weaker embossing. Add that to the fact that it's an early 1880's bottle (they didn't use mold vent marks then, which make the embossing stronger), and that can make some weak embossing. I have a blob from about the same time period, with embossing just as weak, found with its original wire bail, so it couldn't have been tumbled. So, now I've decided it hasn't been tumbled. _____________________________ Looking for bottles from Glen Ridge, Montclair, Bloomfield, Orange, East Orange, West Orange, South Orange, and if I like 'em, any other bottles from Essex County NJ! However, cutting compound also takes off embossment so you need to be careful of 1, how weak the embossment is. 2, what grit of cutting compound is used, and 3, how long you tumble the bottle.
