I was doing a hvac job today and was working in a crawl space of a 1850's era home.Found some 1850's large cents and these 3 nice silver dollars.First is dated 1925,second is dated 1890,third is dated 1896.These where in about 4 inches of dusty powder and cleaned up really nice.In all found 13 coins some i havent cleaned yet.

Just a suggestion, dont clean them! dust them off mabey run some water over them but nothing else or it could vastly effect the value. jmho

These were found in a very dry power like dirt and only thing i used was warm soapy water,no chemicals i learned that in my beginning years when i cleaned some relics. They have a patina to them kinda hard to see in pics.

Don't you know whoever lost them were ****ed.  Thats probably like losing a $20 bill today.

When I'm not working my full time job, I work with my dad who owns a plumbing business.  I love working under historic homes.  Thats how I've found a good number of my bottles.  He's plumbing an old slave quarters at the moment for the Historical Society.  Found a few clay marbles, thats about it.  Would love to go around that place with my detector but I know they will not let me.

Thanks for the replies.I was told today by the contractor who is remodeling the house that in the later 1800's it was a general store. So, im assuming the coins fell through the cracks of the floor.I did find a few small bottles today but nothing worth posting. Coins arent my thing as i dont collect them but sure is fun finding them.

Why buy a coin value book guys?? Here is what an actual dealer is giving for coins, and its a ballpark of what they should do if you was to put them on ebay. I look a lot of stuff up via this site.
