Status: offline 		After a busy Friday at the OBCA show and a rather quiet Saturday morning I took the time to walk around the VFW hall and see what my fellow collectors and diggers had brought to sell. Plenty of collored western meds, but not much in my budget this month. I was lucky enough to work out a deal on a beautiful dark cornflour (light cobalt) Dickey Pioneer Chemist with an applied top and wonderful crudity! It has some minor content stain, but nothing worth the risk of tumbling it. Also, I picked up three other bottles for cleaning and eventual resale, two different sizes cobalt blue olive oil bottles (?), and a Balm Of Thousand Flowers.

For the first time I've seen him in Oregon, R. Wayne Lowry (The Jar Dr) also had a table at the show so I was able to stock up on cleaning supplies and buy a few new parts for my tumbler. I can hardly wait to load up the Flower Balm in a tube and give my new stoppels a try! Mr. Lowry seemed quite personable and genuine, he had great information and tips to share, it was really a pleasure to meet him.

Donald,...Those are real nice (and nice looking) bottles,....Love the pioneer coneflower blue Dickey's Chemist, and the "thousand flowers,..I think the cobalt bottles are cod liver oil........ Nice finds.                       Joe

Nice acquisitions! I especially like that Dickey Pioneer Chemist. I'm voting Castor Oil on the blue guys.

Status: offline 		Thanks, castor oil is what I was looking for when I said they were olive oils, knew it was wrong but couldn't quite get my brain to wrap around what it was. They are very hazed on the inside and will go into a tube tomorrow, as will the flower balm. I'll post pics in a week or so when they come out. Tempted to try the new gear out on the Dickey, but.........

Status: offline 		Sweet bottles. So how long have you been tumbling? I have a motor but lost the instruction on how to build one. I just started toying with the idea again. Anyone have any links on how to build your own tumbler? Swiz

Status: offline 		Thanks swiz, I've been tumbling for about a year now. Not sure that I have ever seen step by step instructions on tumbler building, but if you search "tumbler building" in the cleaning and repairing forum there has been plenty written on the subject there. I got my tumbler second hand, sans motor, so didn't have to worry about building the structure. It's not near as  fancy as anything Wayne builds now, and was more than likely built by a local collector who has been building simple machines for a decade or so. Here's a photo of my little machine, looks pretty simple, does the job well, and would be cheap to replicate.

That may be a good option to consider, Wayne "The Jar Dr." sells his platforms without motors, if you already have a good motor you are half way there. From what I saw his machines are adjustable and expandable, as your cleaning needs change the tumbler can be adapted to suit.
