We won this N.O. bottle recently on ebay. Love the doughnut lips.
It was cleaned up with Barkeeper's Friend to see if there were any cracks, missing glass, weak points, etc.
Plan to clean it some more.
Don't know the value of it, but we always love having any true doughnut lip sodas that are pontiled.

That's a nice bottle; it has some great character and an attractive pontil. I also like the sand-worn effect, it looks as if it was dredged up from lake Pontchartrain or the like.

I don't exactly where it was found. It did come from the N.O. area and I think it was a dug bottle. However, I am not sure.
Thanks for the compliment.

Hey Kekoa,

Mele Kalikimaka to'ya. That is a real beauty. thanks for showing us.

To me there's a big romance factor to some of the early Nawlins bottles. I mean just look at Miguel here, not just 334 Royal, but "No. 334 Royal Street. And that Doughnut finish is PHAT like a Mardis Gras hat. A pillowy beignet, if ever I saw one, made outta a green aqua glass.

Could'ya devote some pictures to the embossing, please? I wanna see that "No. 334" loud and clear.

"It is believed that Miguel Piris is the man who introduced seltzer water to New Orleans. Miguel Piris was in the brewery business in 1846 before becoming a soda/mineral water dealer. During his brewery business there was misspelling of his name to "Mitchell Peres" and during his soda business there was misspelling of his name to Migull Piris. He never left the 334 Royal Street even while changing the business from brewery to soda. He sold his business in 1854 to Peter Pons." From.

Hey Kekoa,

This one is positively pedestrian, compared to yours. From.

Has yours got a large "P" on the backside?

Hey thanks to everyone on the compliments about the bottle.
I think this bottle was a sleeper. Pretty sure the seller wasn't a bottle guy. I emailed him and asked for more pictures to see if it was pontiled, embossing, etc. He sent them to me, but didn't post them on the auction site. I just put a minimum bid and waited for the auction to finish.
Got the bottle and it was so cloudy that you had a hard time seeing the embossing. I just used Bar Keepers Friend to clean it and wow what a nice bottle. Strong embossing and a really nice pontil.
Sometimes you just get lucky (even on ebay).
Surfaceone, I will post close shots of the embossing. Yes, it has a big "P" on the back.
You are like the Websters Dictionary of this website. I really enjoy all of your posts.

Howsit Surfaceone,
Here are the pictures of the embossing as requested.
In my earlier email I mentioned your like the Websters Dictionary, but when I thought about it some more your more like the Encyclopedia
Britannica of the website.

Aloha Kekoa,

Mahalo for the kind words.

Thanks for the close up. You've got such a nice touch with the photos. There's some history etched in that glass. Love that "N (underscored 'o') 334."
