Nice I dug one of these earlier this year. It had heavy staining but the lip was perfect.  There was a second broken one in the pit also. Its sitting in a box in my closet. We got pretty good money when we sold the intact one.

You are doing fine on it on ebay.   Helen McKearin considered it one of the first, if not THE first, embossed American medicine bottle.   An excellent find, even with the chipped lip.

HOLY CRAP! I sure wouldn't be crying... if this is your bottle! http://cgi.ebay.com/290467626748 I'm fairly sure it is tho... I wasn't expecting to see that price when I went into to see where the price was at.. that is a real good price in my opinion for a broken bottle

you may have dropped a few tears when you first found it,but you should be all smiles now that you see what people are willing to pay for a damaged bottle... How badly damaged are the other cryers?

The Robertson bottles are rare even in broken condition.
Here is a little info I posted a while back...

Hi Christian,
I sent you a message on ebay I hope you have received it.It is a lot of money for a damaged bottle but how often do you see these.I lost out last year on the same bottle in an auction at  http://americanglassgallery.com  That bid went for 2500.00.I have every other Dyott bottle ever made but this one.I am perfectly OK with the damage and I can always upgrade to a undamaged one at a later date. I am taking this bottle to Jeff Vannemen of the http://www.glassblower.info/new-fislerville-glassworks/new-fislerville-glassworks.html He will be able to cut a top off of a puff bottle in my collection and fuse it or attach it by some other means onto the Dyott bottle or blow a new collar and flared lip and then fuse it onto the Dyott bottle.Either way it will look great as the bottle looks to be in very clean condition. These were manufactured just 5 miles from my house in Glassboro New Jersey.Dyott had purchased the entire output of the Olive glass works in 1815 and they were also doing work for him long before he became their sole agent. The color matches closely to other products of those glass works. Thanks again Steve.

When you send it could you time it to arrive next week after the Labor day holiday.I will be visting our great forum member Red Matthews in New York State Saturday through Monday

Steve, thanx for purchasing the bottle. I'll make sure to mail it next week so you get it after the holiday.
Thanx again, Chris

The idea of fusing glass to an old annealed bottle is interesting but it scares the heck out of me. Be sure to show the results.
I'm certainly not a restoration expert but it seems the damage isnt all that bad and you could make a mold pretty easy for a HXTAL repair that would look pretty nice.
I would have a problem removing any of the original glass. Good luck with it , not many of those have survived.

Steve your example could easily be repaired flared lips are not that hard to do with resin. And aqua is one of the easiest colors to match.

Here's a picture of the other broken one we dug. We sold the intact example for about 6 times what the one you just bought went for. So not a bad buy if you are not worried about a perfect flared lip.
