I have a bottle I purchased with the embossing: ENG-SKELL/PHARMACAL CO./S.F.  It is amber in color.  I would like to know what this contained.  I did an internet search and found that "Eng-Skell" is in business today in San Francisco and they are a food flavoring/syrup company.  My bottle says pharmacal so this has me confused.  Is anyone familiar with this bottle?  Where is it listed and what is it's aproximate value?

Hard to really tell without a picture posted to define the age, et cetera.

Not listed in Miller's book, but it wouldn't be if the age is too new.

I'm not a great photographer, here is the best picture I could get.  This bottle stands 9 7/8" tall and has a cork enclosure similar to one you would see on a brandy or liquer bottle.  It was foil wrapped and this one has the foil still wrapped around the top.  The bottom is concave, no pontil.  I'm guessing this was made "around" the turn of the century, a few years before or after.  The mold line is heavy to the bottom of the neck, then fades as it goes up to the foil.

My guess would be a malt extract. 1880-1890. The foil's probably led. Nice bottle, definetely a keeper, worth hanging onto.

Lobey.

Since the alcohol content was so strong in some medicines, they sometimes were sold in bars. I had one about 39 years ago [can't remember the embossing on bottle] I do remember it said "ALSO SOLD IN THE FINEST BARS"" .
