Hi Digger, sorry it' s taken me a time to answer. You' re Codd bottles are late ones probably made in the 1920' s to 30' s. Unlike earlier ones these are machine made and I' m sorry to say are not that scarce or valuable. Hope this has helped, contact me if you want anymore information.
Cheers - A Coddaholic !!

Coloured marble Codds usually fetch good money, but I have doubts about the provenance of these ones & tend to agree with Coddaholic. The embossing appears extremely sharp, machine made rather than mould blown.
I have seen a couple of different examples of machine made Codds from other companies including one from " up North" (possibly Leeds) with a highly detailed castle trademark. The owner thought it had been made within the past few years.
I have dug the odd Codd from 1930s tips, including one bottle with a 3 digit phone number embossed on the back, but even these late ones were made in the traditional way.
It' s possible that your two are from the 1940s, but not sure whether these were actually used for drinks, went on a pub shelf for advertising, or just reproduced as novelty items.

the one from blackpool was found in the wall of an 1990' s house that was being torn down .it has a mold line that stops below the begining of the top ,meaning the last inch or so. the other came to me from an auction and the mold line stops about 1/2 inch from the top and looks to be fire polished. both have black balls and white rubber seals that are badly cracked. both bottoms embossed both say 10 oz. both have a makers mark which looks like a fat M above a small X one says 11 A 2 the other says 11 B 2. thanks for the help

they sound ok I do think they are old.
from looking at the pic I must say there is something odd about them, but I have a codd in my collection that looks the same from 1900 (with a aqua marble tho). the top' s on the one' s in the pic look old.
there are codd' s from India that are still made with coloured marbles but I have not seen a modern one from England.

diggerjeff do you think you could post a pic of the base of them ?.
