Hi,

Does anyone have information regarding this flask. I have been looking on the web and have found many American Eagle Flask, but none with the grapes embossed on the back. I has the cut off top and large open pontil. Wondering if it is Masonic? What the value of this might be? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi Mango and Welcome to Antique-Bottles.Net -
There is a reproduction of this flask and looking at the top on yours, may be one. The photo is small, but the neck looks too perfect and straight. Please post a photo of the bottom so we can tell you more and thanks.

I'll be away most of the day probing at a large site for future digs, but will try to help more when I return if others haven't helped by then.

Thank you for information. Here is the pontil. Also, there is no wording or marks on this bottle. If it is a reproduction, is it worth anything?

MANGO...welcome to the Forum.

Meech may well be correct.
Here's an example in another color.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13912&item=6190806440&rd=1

It was also made in light blue, amber, and emerald green by Clevenger Bros Glass Works in Clayton NJ....1930s to 1980's..

They are collectible, and usually sell for $10 to $20.

Thank you for the information. From the one on ebay you sent, I would have to say yes this is a reproduction.

MANGO...I copied your pic and took it in my Imaging proggie...lightened it up.
It is a repo...someone has chipped the base around the fake pontil scar to make it appear older...
You see this occasionally ,along with where a person has sanded a base to fake the years of wear.

Great...that makes me angry because I got it from an antique dealer. Can't trust anyone these days. Thank you for checking this out for me. I do appreciate it. Have a great day.

For those who can't make it out:

Historical Bottle Diggers of VA...Est 1969...

This is the Harrisonburg, VA. Club bottle....
Can't say it's a repo...but an "adaptation" or, perhaps a 20th Century Commemmorative?

Thank you for all your replies to my question. You have been a great help. I am not upset that the bottle is a reproduction, in fact I have posted it on ebay, but I am upset that someone would tamper with the bottom to make it look older than it is. Hopefully I can sell it still. Basically I have been items at yardsales and estate sales to resell in hopes of making some money. Like I already said, the guy was an antique dealer having an estate sale and people should be honest. I am and that is why I get pulled in by those who aren't. Again, thank you everyone. I would have sold something under false pretenses and then I would have looked like a liar. Mango

Just found this Eagle Cornucopia listed...It has the same "faked looking" pontil mark I was talking about earlier- where someone scuffed & chipped around the circular depression....

Hi Mango,
Just curious - how much did the dealer charge you for this bottle?
Thanks,
Rich
