Found this under a house a while back.  Just looking some info on it.  Couldn't find anything on the company.  1870's or 80's?  2pc mold.  Wish it would have had a little more embossing.

I believe this is more correctly called a "Bulge Neck" rather than a "Ladies Leg".

My feeling is that is a beer bottle and dates to the late 70's early 80's. I know of a number of Cincinnati beers from this era that have a whiskey top and that shape. I would guess that it is from that area or another Indiana or Ky. river town.

I'm gonna second Doug's opinion on it being a beer.

Perhaps an early Fehr...

Hey Dustin,

It's KYGW marked, is it not? They started in 1879. For sure a Louisville glass house. Maybe a Louisville brewer, too. Is there any other identifying or contextual information you've not told us about?

No.  The embossing on the shoulder and bottom are the only markings on the bottle.  So could the GW be the Great Western Glass Co. out of St. Louis?  Looks like they were in business from 1874 to 1886.

I just figured it was a whiskey.  It is not uncommon to find right many Kentucky whiskies here in NC but can't say I've found a beer from there.  Most of the older beers we find are from Baltimore.

It is definitely a product of Louisville Glassworks but they made bottles for companies all over the midwest. Ill still stick to my gut and guess a Cincinnati proprietor.
