I thought potlids were milky or ceramic ? This two-inch clear white glass ' lid' reads Pat. Sept 20, 1898. 53 M in center area. What was this used for and is it from 1898 ? Dave.

It' s a glass insert for a fruit jar lid.

this is a jar lid - food product . not sure what food product . it is after 1898.
