Well,I went on my first real dig today.Up until now all ive done is walk creeks and RR tracks. We went to the place where an old NU GRAPE truck turned over in the 20's.I think we may have also found a small dump or something, because we found shards of a W.E.WRIGHTS SS coke from Greenwood,Ms and pieces of a shoulder script CHERO-COLA.The truck wrecked in the 20s and these bottles are 1910ish so im confused. Now,back to the Nu Grapes, theere were TONS of shards, since the road grader broke alot of the bottles. We also found a few EYE-SE shards.Heres where we're digging,it looks to have been loged 10-20 years ago,so there are dead tree limbs everywhere,,most of them right on top of where we need to dig.

Hmmm,...they probably used older bottles till they were broken or totally obsolete, that may explain the older sodas. Any diggin pics? Good luck there.

You are now looking at the busiest dirt road in the state of Mississippi. The dadgum thing gets more traffic than the main highway!A car came through every 2 minutes,we got a few stange looks but i just waved and tried to seem as friendly as possible(didnt want em to think i was burying a body or something)

Heres a piece of a plate we found. What really got me excited was that we dug several shards from KOSCIUSKO BOTTLING WORKS crowntops, which are very hard to find. The most complete one we found had its neck broken off.

I dont think the bottles go very deep,at least not at the spot i was digging,i went down about a foot and stopped seeing glass and started geting in to red clay. We'll be going back tomorrow afternoon with a garden rake so we can get the pine straw away and see better.

Congratulations, Branden,

You finally got a little shovel and scratcher work in. What's the embossing on that guy?

Good luck, maƱana.
