Most of the stuff found yesterday was turn of the century even though I am still digging in an early 19th century house site. It appears that I was in one of the trash dumping areas which was loaded with bricks and rocks and lots of broken glass. It was hard to believe that any whole bottles survived but a few did. Here's what I found: A Valentine's Meat Juice (Yummy), An Arnold's Master ink in a 1/2 pint size ( I have only found them in quart sizes before), a cone ink and a wierd little rubber doll. Can't tell what she is wearing and she appears to be playing a pan flute. The best item was a brass luggage tag from Harrisonburg, VA that I eyeballed. These are very collectible and I have sold 2 similar ones from Staunton for $60 each. Not a great day but it was good to get out digging.

Here's the 1/2 pint Arnolds that I found yesterday next to a quart size that I found a time ago.  I know that the 32 ounce is common. Is the 1/2 pint more scarce?

These luggage tags are quite collectible. I Googled the Kavanaugh and didn't find any info on it.

Ain't she a beaut and the Meat Juice sounds just too strange to be real. I think that it was for babies or possibly older people who couldn't chew meat.

The valentine's is a Richmond bottle. They are somewhat common but still an interesting shape. It was apparently a dietary supplement product like many others that were common at the end of the 19th century.
i have found luggage tags but tey never have the hotel name

According to Images of America: Harrisonburg, opened on May 1, 1905, and was razed in the early 1980s. Built by brothers James and Joseph Kavanaugh, replacing their father's earlier hotel.

Thanks. I wonder if The Kavanaugh was the one built in 1905 or was their father's hotel. I did find a photo of the Kavanaugh from a post card. Here's a link. Thanks for the info.http://www.usgwarchives.org/va/photo/harrisonburg/kavan.jpg
