I found this bottle while metal detecting an old dump (1847-1930). Dimensions are 4.25 H x 2.24 L x 1.5 W (inches). It is oval and clear. Has the words " JOHN WYETH & BRO" and " PHILA" written vertically on the front. Sorry no picture yet. Help!

Hi Karl and welcome to Antique-Bottles.Net

JOHN WYETH & BRO is a common embossing on bottles from the 1860s to the early 20th century. Unless the bottle dates from the very early years it is unlikely to be very valuable. All the early ones I believe were cobalt blue but I may be wrong here. The brothers John Frank started their small drugstore at in Walnut Street, Philadelphia in 1860 and the company still exists today after a going through a few name changes. It became American Home Products Corporation (AHP) for a while but I see AHP changed its name back to WYETH last year! What goes around comes around

Thank you for the welcome.

My best guess is that it is a medicine bottle. Your statement about all of their bottles being cobalt seems correct, except this one is clear. Where can I find more info?
