I' m not really a bottle collector, but I came across some old bottles that are kind of interesting. My In-Laws are getting ready to demolish an house that is over 100 years old. In the basement, behind the furnace, is a dirt crawl space that is full of debris. After looking behind the furnace, into the crawlspace, I could just see the tops of some bottles with corks in them, in a cardboard box. After crawling in behind the furnace, we retieved 9 gallon jugs with corks and liquid inside. The liquid appears to be either homemake wine or sake' . Of the 9, 3 had obviously been contaminated, but 5 are still filled with a clear red/amber liquid. Newspapers on the bottom of the box, are dated: October 25, 1928. This appears to be home brewed alcohol made during prohibition. My question is: Is it more valuable to a collector to leave the corks and liquid inside of the bottle? Also maybe someone can tell what kind of bottles these are, I think they may be soda fountain flavor bottles. Thanks Steve
