Hello Everyone,
I'm new and have looked on the repro threads for this bottle and found a few examples however the pontils were different than this one and I just want to be certain it's a repro before I try to put it up for sale. I purchased it at a local auction. I have been scouring the web trying to find a bottle with all of the same features but could not so that is what led me here. I hope someone can help. The flask is amber, the embossed design appears to be correct however there is a flaw in the mold which is an indented line running from the right side of the shield to the outer edge of the ribs. The pontil is polished smooth with only a very faint couple of rings. There are a few large bubbles and smaller ones in the rim. The lip is flared a little and the neck is 1.25" L from shoulder. There are no makers marks and the embossed design is good but not crisp. The words FOR OUR COUNTRY. are not crisp.  Anyway, all appeared right until I saw the several examples in this forum and now I'm thinking it's another repro. Please help.
Thank you
p.s. I have many other pics and would happy to email or host them somewhere for viewing.

MUSE...welcome to the Forum.
Your flask is a Clevenger Bros Glass works repro...probably pre-1960....the flared lip is the main give-away. I have 2 of these same flasks posted on the Clevenger thread...one is yellow amber and the other is amethyst. Both have that same "line" you note yours has.

An original would have a "keyed mold mark" base...not smooth or with a circular depression. Additionally the embossing would be more crisp...

Thank you whiskeyman, I'm glad I checked before putting it up on ebay. I did see your original post and that is what got me suspicious. Thanks for keeping us informed about these things, I'm sure there are a lot of us newbies out there who think wow this could really be something. It was on a table lot so no harm or foul on the part of the auctioneer. thanks again

Muse welcome to the forum, here is part of my collection of Coffin and Hay originals.99.9 percent of the time these flasks were manufactured in bottle aqua green color.Only the ultra rare versions of these were ever made using different colors.True Greens and cobalt blue tend to bring 10,000 to 15,000 per bottle.

The Clevengers copyed their bottle in the form of the GII-54,I also have one in light amber.I purchased mine strictly for what we are discussing
the ability to determine an original from a reproduction. Here is the GI-54 in close.

I have never seen an aqua Clevenger version of this bottle.Had they made it that way it would be a lot more difficult to determine originality.Unlike the Booz versions which were manufactured totally to deceive the buyer by Clevenger these flasks seem to have been made out of respect for a great mold the original was manufactued with.

Thank you Steve/sewell for the clarification and sharing the terrifc pics, you have a very nice collection. I don't collect bottles but in researching this flask I do have to admit my interest is piqued. I think you are right about the Clevenger Bros' homage to this bottle, it's really lovely and I won't mind having it around for a while. This is a very nice forum board and thanks to you and whiskeyman for making me feel welcome.
