Oh sweet mother of Jesus Youngdigger, that is going to be a keeper. Late 1800's date, value wise............. alot. Crocks with cobalt like that and if it is great condition are fetching big $. Also the 6 means gallons and I think you meant to say 37inches tall and 17 wide. I saw some here very much like your style http://pottery-glass.listings.ebay.com/China-Dinnerware_Stoneware_W0QQfclZ3QQfromZR11QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ3QQsacatZ592QQsocmdZListingItemList

Hi,

Thats a great find there. Your crock is from the 1860s-1870s was probably made in western Pa for a merchant in Wheeling W. VA these are very nice the 6 gallon ones in good condition usually bring over $1000.00

Chris

That is an increadable find I have a half gallon wax sealer from the same store. There were a couple different variations of this companies crocks some have the address on them. One of the locations of the store was on national road heading out towards oglebay park. congrats and keep digging.
