I can't find a thing on this. Any guesses - comments? A clear early flint glass (medicine?) crudely embossed: PAUL DEVERE & CO. / GENUINE C VE. B Geo RAPHAEL (w/ ghosted EL) / SOLE / PROPRIETORS. The base is pontil scarred and it was dug in New Orleans. It's 3 1/2" tall and 1 1/2" wide. It does looks like some of the early Philada bottles and some imports too. Not sure if the "sole proprietor" embossing was used outside the USA. If you could figure out the genuine CVE part it might help. Its not likely that the top words would have got double struck and not the lower word 'proprietors'. Should have considered extracts from the GENUINE embossing and searched foods. Doesnt seem to be in Zumwalt. At least the English import part is right. He and his family came from England on the ship Gliddon and arrived Oct. 5, 1846. To save a single image from a book at Google, click on the outline box above the image then outline whatever part of the ad you want. A box will open that says something about saving to blogger, notebook, or embedding.  Ignore it! You can just right click the image and save it as a bitmap file. Sometimes that is the fastest way.
